At Bodec, we place a high value on partnerships. As an innovative company, we always strive to stay updated with the latest processes and knowledge. This is why we closely collaborate with educational institutions, other companies, and institutes through both one-on-one collaborations and national and European cooperative projects. One of our most successful partnerships is with Meatco, owned by Patrick Koehorst.
Meatco specializes in developing innovative solutions for upgrading animal raw materials through enzymatic hydrolysis. To achieve this, Meatco has established its pilot plant within Bodec. Here, clients can test their own raw materials and even process them industrially.
Our collaboration with Meatco revolves around the themes of innovation and sustainability. “Together with Bodec, we explore the potential of animal materials,” says Patrick. “What substances can be extracted? How can we create natural food ingredients with specific flavors or functionalities, resulting in a clean label? This has led to a beautiful collaboration where we utilize each other’s knowledge and expertise.”
This collaboration adopts an open approach. Patrick has his equipment housed in Bodec’s pilot plant, which we at Bodec can also use for our clients. We also leverage Meatco’s knowledge and network. Simultaneously, Patrick utilizes our staff and expertise to develop the production processes associated with specific products. Such partnerships are quite rare in the industry, but for us, it works excellently.
Patrick emphasizes the importance of a joint approach: “The great thing about our collaboration is that we complement each other. Bodec has a lot of expertise in process optimization, while Meatco specializes in the development and optimization of animal products. By combining our strengths, we can work much more efficiently.”
What makes this partnership special is that it allows us to respond flexibly to market changes while sharing the costs of equipment and production. “The openness between Bodec and Meatco ensures that we can quickly respond to new opportunities,” says Patrick. “We share knowledge, machines, and personnel, which benefits everyone.”
At Bodec and Meatco, we believe this collaboration enables us to innovate faster and develop more sustainable processes. We aim to add value to all the by-products that come through our doors. This requires both development and production. Combining our strengths offers great added value to our clients.
We hope our partnership inspires others to collaborate more intensively, as the right partners can truly make a difference.
